Spanish daily newspaper that Real Madrid are keeping close tabs on Liverpool youngster Pedro Chirivella.

The 17-year-old Spaniard joined the Reds from Valencia last season and has since developed into one of club s hottest prospects.

Redknapp: Taarabt staying put

QPR manager Harry Redknapp has assured Adel Taarabt he has a role to play with the club under his stewardship.

Redknapp, who branded the Moroccan a fruitcake last year, sold Taarabt to QPR from Tottenham in August 2010 after the 23-year-old had impressed on two loan spells at Loftus Road.

But the new QPR boss does not foresee any problems with the midfielder and is looking forward to working with Taarabt again, a player he insists he had wanted to keep.

Champions League winner Maniche joins Cologne

Veteran Portuguese international midfielder Maniche joined German side Cologne on a free transfer, the club s website said on Monday.

The 31-year-old a Champions League winner with Porto in 2004 was released from his previous contract with Spanish side Atletico Madrid in May.

Maniche is one of the great names in European football and we are proud to have signed him, Cologne chairman Wolfgang Overath said.

Maniche capped 52 times enjoyed a golden spell under Jose Mourinho at Porto also collecting the 2003 UEFA Cup before an unhappy 16million pounds move to Russian side Dynamo Moscow.

Nedved signs Juve contract extension

Veteran Czech midfielder Pavel Nedved has signed a one-year contract extension with Juventus, the club said on Tuesday.

The news is a welcome boost to Juventus who will play in the Champions League next season after ensuring they will end this Serie A campaign in third place.

Nedved s contract will now last until the end of June 2009.

This contract extension is the best way to reinforce the squad ahead of next season, said Juve administrator Jean-Claude Blanc.

Pavel has been an integral part of Juventus s story and will continue to add character and quality to the team.

The Czech is 35 years old and joined Juve in 2001. He has played 282 matches and scored 58 goals.

Brighton and Hove Albion s upcoming Premier League meeting with Crystal Palace has been postponed due to a planned rail strike.

The match at the Amex Stadium between the rival clubs – nicknamed the A23 derby – had been scheduled to take place on September 17.
